“Pokkén Tournament” Release, “Pokémon Animation Studio”

Bandai Namco have updated their site to announce that the Pokkén Tournament will be made available starting July 2015 at Japanese arcades. No further information has been released, but will be updated here if any info comes in.

A Pokémon Animation Studio attraction will be opening in the KidZania Complex in London, UK in late 2015. The studio will serve an educational purpose for visitors as they will be able to create their own stop-motion videos through the use of Pokémon toys. Additional toys can be bought through a store they will have open. No word on the attraction opening in other parts of the world, but Pokémon fans can always hope! 😛

“Lysandre’s Trump Card” Banned in US and Japan

Both the English and Japanese official Pokemon websites have just announced that the TCG Trainer card Lysandre’s Trump Card will be officially banned from Play! Pokemon tournaments. This takes effect starting June 15th in the US and June 20th in Japan. More info can be found below:

As of June 15, 2015, Lysandre’s Trump Card (XY—Phantom Forces, 99/119 and 118/119) will be banned from all sanctioned Play! Pokémon tournaments in most of the world. (The ban will go into effect in Japan on June 20.) This card has created an undesirable play environment because it:

  • Eliminates one of your opponent’s victory conditions (running out of cards in your deck)
  • Allows repeated use of powerful Trainer cards
  • Allows drawing through your deck quickly with minimal repercussions
  • Extends the time of battles

All sanctioned tournaments will be affected by this change, including Pokémon National Championships occurring after June 15 (except in Japan) and the Pokémon World Championships in August.
